# Restore a tool

> Bring an omitted tool back into circulation. The inverse of omit.

The inverse of [`:omit`](/docs/api-reference/toolservice/omit-a-tool). A tool in `STATE_OMITTED` returns to `STATE_AVAILABLE`, and agents see it again on their next objective.

<CodeGroup>
  ```typescript TypeScript theme={null}
  await client.toolSets.tools.restore(toolSetId, toolId, { workspaceId });
  // state: 'STATE_AVAILABLE'
  ```

  ```go Go theme={null}
  // state: STATE_AVAILABLE
  _, err := client.ToolSets.Tools.Restore(ctx, toolSetID, toolID,
  	cadenya.ToolSetToolRestoreParams{WorkspaceID: cadenya.String(workspaceID)})
  ```

  ```ruby Ruby theme={null}
  cadenya.tool_sets.tools.restore(tool_id, tool_set_id: tool_set_id, workspace_id: workspace_id)
  # state: STATE_AVAILABLE
  ```

  ```bash cURL theme={null}
  curl -X POST "https://api.cadenya.com/v1/workspaces/${WORKSPACE_ID}/tool_sets/${TOOL_SET_ID}/tools/${TOOL_ID}:restore" \
    -H "Authorization: Bearer ${CADENYA_API_KEY}" \
    -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
    -d '{}'
  ```
</CodeGroup>

Idempotent: restoring an already-available tool is a `200` no-op.

## Scope, by tool set kind

`:restore` undoes a manual `:omit`, so it fits the same tool sets `:omit` does: [bare and HTTP](/docs/api-reference/toolservice/create-a-new-tool-set) sets, where you author the tools by hand.

On a **synced** (`mcp` or `openapi`) set, the tool's state is decided by the source and the adapter filters. A tool hidden by `excludeTools` cannot be brought back with `:restore`; it returns the moment you drop it from the filter and the set re-syncs.

```typescript theme={null}
// Stop excluding it, and the next sync restores it.
await client.toolSets.update(toolSetId, {
  workspaceId,
  spec: { adapter: { type: 'mcp', mcp: { url: 'https://free.cadenya.com/faker-mcp' } } },
});
```

<Note>
  On a synced set, `:restore` returns `200`, but a tool's availability there is governed by the sync, not by this call. Use the adapter filters to curate a synced set.

             LLMs have specific length and format requirements, and tool set sources may not comply
